Web Design

Overview

Canlan wanted to push towards a more complete family entertainment experience inside their facilities. With Gamedeck, we created a space where people could hang out, have fun, and stay connected even when they weren’t on the ice.

We piloted the concept in our York and Burnaby locations, turning part of our restaurant spaces into an interactive sports zone with simulators, games, and a lounge-like vibe.

My Role

As Lead Designer, I helped bring GameDeck from concept to launch. Developing the brand identity, building the website and booking experience, and guiding the design process with other teams and stakeholders. We transformed the spaces with frosted glass, light-up signage, and motion graphics, and ran digital and print campaigns to boost visibility before and after launch.

Website Experience

Since GameDeck was a completely new offering for Canlan, the website needed to clearly explain what the experience was, how to book it, and what it cost. I designed the layout around those key questions, highlighting event packages, pricing, and location details in a simple and visual way.

We went through rounds of user testing with focus groups to understand how people moved through the page and where they needed clarity. The final design integrated seamlessly with our third-party booking platform, helping guests feel confident and informed from start to finish.

Pricing Section

Based on customer feedback, we redesigned our pricing cards to include an interactive slider. Customers could choose their desired playtime and see the price update instantly. Since bays were rented hourly, this made the pricing experience more transparent and intuitive.

Game Browser

With over 25 games available, we needed a clean, simple way for players to explore them all at a glance.

Email Marketing

Beyond regular promotions, we ran seasonal challenges and prize events to keep players engaged.

Email marketing helped us spread the word, boost participation, and grow excitement around the GameDeck experience.

Branding

The logo needed to fit within Canlan’s broader identity system while standing out on its own. We kept the typography and color palette consistent with other Canlan products. Added touch of an off-green that felt energetic and turf-inspired. A simple topographic pattern added depth, tying back to golf courses and the feeling of movement across different sports.

Motion Graphics

We used bright, energetic motion graphics to bring the brand to life across facility screens and social media.

Worked closely with videographers to create short promo clips that captured the fun of the GameDeck experience. Showcasing the variety of sports, food & beverage offerings, and hanging out with friends.

In the Space

To bring the GameDeck look into the physical space, I worked with our print partner to design and install frosted glass graphics and illuminated signage. These helped define the area and made it feel like part of the larger Canlan brand.
